WordPress or a managed website: which is right for an insurance agency?

WordPress is flexible open-source software and a good choice for an agency that has a developer on call and wants full control of every plugin. For an agency that wants quote requests rather than a software project, a managed site is simpler: no plugins to update, no hosting to buy, no theme to patch, and one monthly fee that includes the person who makes every change.

01

Why so many agency sites run on WordPress

WordPress is open-source software with a huge ecosystem of themes and plugins, and almost any web developer can work on it. That is why so many agency sites were built on it, often by a local designer years ago. Its flexibility is real: forms, calculators, directories and blogs are all a plugin away.

02

The cost that does not show up on the invoice

Every plugin is software someone has to keep updated, and an agency site with a form plugin, a page builder, an SEO plugin, a security plugin and a caching plugin is five things that can break or slow the site. When the designer who built it moves on, updates stop, the site slows down on phones, and eventually a form quietly stops sending requests. Nobody notices until a prospect mentions they never heard back. That upkeep is the hidden cost of WordPress for a busy agency.

03

What changes with a managed static site

Our sites are static pages with no plugins, no database and no theme to patch, served from Cloudflare's edge. There is nothing for anyone at the agency to update. Forms post straight into your CRM or AMS, and if something changes, you send a revision and we make it. The trade-off is honest: you give up installing any plugin you like, and in return you get a site that stays fast and working without you.

Which is right for your agency?

An honest split. If the left column describes you, WordPress is the better call.

WordPress is the better fit when

  • You have a developer on call and want full control over every plugin and feature.
  • You need a specific plugin or integration that only exists for WordPress.
  • You want to self-host and manage your own stack.

A managed GetInsurance site wins when

  • Your current WordPress site has not been updated since the person who built it left.
  • You want forms that post to your AMS without a plugin that might break.
  • You would rather pay one monthly fee than manage hosting, plugins and a developer.

Your WordPress site stays live until you approve the new one.

What the plan includes

What you get beyond the pages themselves

Speed, search, AI answers, upkeep, and on Multi-Line and Agency Book the AI Engine and Content Engine. Every item, with the plan that carries it.

  • Single Line $127 / month
  • Multi-Line $267 / month + usage
  • Agency Book $647 / month

Speed, search and AI answers

  • 90+ PageSpeed on every page we build

Static pages served from Cloudflare's edge with almost no script. If a page we control drops below 90+, we fix it at no charge.

  • Technical and on-page SEO

Clean URLs, one clear heading per page, unique titles and descriptions, internal links between line, town and carrier pages, an XML sitemap and correct redirects.

  • Structured data (JSON-LD) on every page

The agency as an organization or local business, each line as a service, each FAQ as a question and answer, breadcrumbs, and each article with its author.

  • Answer-first pages and FAQ blocks (AEO)

Every section opens with a direct answer, and line and town pages carry real questions with full answers, marked up so they can be lifted into featured snippets and voice answers.

  • Ready to be cited by AI assistants (GEO)

An llms.txt file, consistent agency and service names everywhere, dated pages and plainly stated facts, so assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can understand and cite the site. No one can guarantee a mention; we make it more likely.

  • Researched articles every week

2 a week on Single Line and Multi-Line, 3 a week on Agency Book, each 2,500 to 3,200 words, with cited sources, written as general information.

The AI Engine

  • AI receptionist that answers when your team cannot

Answers the agency line when nobody is free, takes the caller's name, the line and the details a producer needs, answers plain questions about hours and lines, and books a callback. After each call you get a call-analysis PDF with a summary of who called and what they wanted.

  • AI chat widget on your website

A chat window on every page that asks the same questions as the matching quote form, in conversation, and writes the answers into your CRM or AMS.

  • AI agents on SMS, Facebook Messenger and Instagram DMs

The same agent replies to texts, Messenger and Instagram messages, takes quote details and books a call with a producer, with every transcript kept on the contact record.

  • A2P 10DLC texting registration filed for you

We file the carrier registration every business needs to send texts through an application, using the agency's legal name and EIN, and pass the carrier fee through at cost.

  • Agents configured never to quote or advise

The agents never quote coverage, state a rate, say who qualifies or recommend what to buy. Anything that would be advice goes to a licensed producer, and every conversation is logged.

  • AI usage billed at cost, with a cap if you want one

Phone minutes and messages are billed monthly in arrears at cost, broken out on the invoice, and we can set a cap so the agents stop before it is passed.

The Content Engine

  • 3 social image posts a week

Posts for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn in your colors, each linking to the article or quote form it was made for.

  • 2 short reels a week

Short, captioned reels written to be read with the sound off, drawn from the same topic list as the articles.

  • Your Google Business Profile, managed

Weekly posts, photo updates, hours and holiday changes, service lists that match your line pages, answers to questions, and review replies drafted for your approval.

  • 3 researched articles a week instead of 2

The article count steps up so a bigger book, or a commercial book with more lines, has the content to rank.

What agency owners say after switching

  • The review of our personal coverage inquiries pages was uncomfortable reading, in a useful way. Everything now lives in one maintained reference, with the duplicates retired or redirected. It is the least glamorous work they did, and possibly the most valuable.
Maurice LarkinOffice manager, home and contents insurance brokerNaperville, IL · Content audit and update process for personal coverage inquiries
  • My worry was the personal coverage inquiries page we had linked from years of emails. Every legacy address was catalogued, mapped and tested before go-live. I could share the new site knowing the old links had been taken seriously.

Questions about WordPress and a managed agency website

Is WordPress bad for an insurance agency website?

No. WordPress is capable and widely used. The problem for most agencies is upkeep: plugins, updates, hosting and security need someone responsible for them, and when nobody is, the site slows down and forms can stop working without anyone noticing.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I leave WordPress?

Not if the move is done properly. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to its new equivalent, pages that earn traffic are rebuilt rather than dropped, and the domain stays the same. Search engines follow the redirects to the new pages.

Can I keep my blog posts from WordPress?

Yes. We move the posts that are worth keeping, update the ones that are out of date, and redirect the rest to the closest relevant page, so old links still land somewhere useful.

What about my WordPress form plugin that sends to EZLynx or HawkSoft?

We rebuild each form around what the carrier needs and connect it to the same system by API, Zapier or Make, then test a live submission for each form before launch.

Why are your pages faster than a WordPress site?

Our pages are static, with no database queries and almost no script, and served from Cloudflare's edge. A WordPress site can be fast with good hosting and caching, but it depends on every plugin added. We build to a 90+ PageSpeed score.

Can I still install plugins on your site?

No, and that is deliberate. Instead of plugins, you ask for what you need and we build it into the site as a revision, so nothing slows the site or needs updating.

Is a managed site more expensive than WordPress?

WordPress itself is free software; hosting, premium plugins and developer time are not. Our plans start at $127 a month with hosting, updates and 5 revisions a month included, and a $697 build fee invoiced after launch.

Who owns the site and domain if I switch?

You own your domain, registered in the agency's name, and your content. On cancellation you keep the domain and receive an export of your content.
